Joyce E. (Songer) Brilbeck, 77, of East Syracuse, passed away Saturday at home unexpectedly with her family by her side. Born in Syracuse, she was employed with Verizon for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. Our loving mother was an Read Obituary
Denise, Moe and daughters - I am so sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Joyce at a couple of the parties I when I was the DJ. She liked to have fun and had a great smile. I think she gave that beautiful gift to you Denise, so she lives on each time you smile!
We lived in watertree, our fun times at the pool, our parties.. Her stories, ending with that wonderful laugh, or a "oh honey". and a puff of a cigarette..just the kind of mom that was so easy to be around...And always her interest in what was going on in your life,..,I feel blessed to have known her for many years, as my best buddy's mom... she understood the antics of teenage girls ..and i can still hear her say..."oh you girls" .

I really enjoyed having Joyce as a next door neighbor. I will certainly miss her, particularly during the spring, summer and fall when the residents tend not to hibernate in their own units. I enjoyed running into her in the laundry room and in the stairwell where we always took a few minutes to catch up. And I'll miss those wonderful smells coming from her unit and escaping into the stairwell. I knew your mother was a wonderful cook from the get go.
I know you all take with you some wonderful and loving memories.

Joyce will be missed by many, her smile and laughter followed her throughout her life and her friendship. Joyce made many friends at the phone company and we had many good times getting together after work. She was a joy to be around. My favorite memory of her was she was always talking about her children. She shared her happiness with all of us about her family. What I remember the most was the teenage years of Bridget and how Bridget kept her feeling YOUNG. A day did not go by that she did not express her love for each one of you.
The last time I saw her was at Hafner's and we were buying spring flowers. We stood there talking and laughing over how we spend our time in life retired. Going to Hafner's and picking out flowers at 10 AM in the morning and no more the rat race of getting to work on time. We hugged and had everyone in Hafner's looking at us for we were laughing so hard.
Your Mom was a joy in my heart to call her my friend. Keep her laughter going within your hearts by talking about what a wonderful person, a wonderful Mother and a wonderful friend she was. Your Mom lives on within all of you and her grandchildren.
