Joyce (Harrington) Cirrito's Obituary
Joyce (Harrington) Cirrito, 84, of Liverpool, passed away June 15, 2023. She was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Shew) Harrington, and grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and Canisteo, NY.
Joyce was valedictorian of her graduating class of Canisteo High School in 1956 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Alfred University. She also earned a master’s degree from Boston University. She moved to Syracuse where she met her husband and raised her family. She worked as a nursing instructor at Syracuse University, and then at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Syracuse until her retirement.
Joyce was an all-around caregiver to family, friends, and the community and was a dedicated volunteer with various organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling and had many great trips with friends and family. She had a deep love of reading and always had a book in her hand. She was also very talented at knitting and cross-stitch, winning first place for one of her cross-stitch pieces at the New York State Fair in 2016.
Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Rudolph, of Liverpool, daughter, Karen, of Hopkinton, MA, and many extended family members.
A memorial service and celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 7444 Buckley Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212 on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
