Leon Francis Haar's Obituary
Leon Francis Haar, 81, of DeWitt, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on February 4, 2020. Leon was born in Syracuse, son of the late Frederick and Cornelia (Schmitz) Haar. He was a U.S. Army veteran and earned a master’s degree in education. Leon worked over 30 dedicated years as a teacher for East Syracuse Minoa High School. He had a great love of stamp collecting. Leon loved spending time with family and friends, especially his beloved granddaughter Madeleine
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ninette (Medicis) Haar; his son, Patrick (Maria) Haar; his granddaughter, Madeleine Haar, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Leon’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse, with entombment to follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, DeWitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, February 10, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
