Lillian L. (Labulis) Greenwood, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse, daughter of the late John and Weronika (Wojewoda) Labulis, she was a graduate of Sacred Read Obituary
John, I, & our family send our deepest condolences to the Greenwood family on the passing of Aunt Lil, my Godmother.
I just loved being at Aunt Lil’s house - the clam bakes, the big yard, playing with my cousins, reading comic books, visiting after going to the farmers market, listening to the stories the elders shared, so many memories! It’s the ordinary times I hold dear in my heart.
She will not be forgotten! I loved the times around her kitchen table - card games, the unending pot of coffee, grandkids looking at photos, laughing and just visiting with family. She was so down to earth and shared her opinions freely. I loved her laugh and that sparkle in her eyes. She told me to work to keep the family close…family was everything to her.
Thank you Aunt Lil for all the sacrifices you made to keep your family healthy and happy. It’s the passing of a generation and I give a shout out of love to all my cousins and their families and friends as you gather to celebrate her life.
This time of Lent and Easter prepares us to focus on getting our lives in order as we celebrate new life. Now Aunt Lil will be with us in a new way and with those whom she loves who have gone before her - all in Gods hands.
We are sending along our sincere condolences to the entire Greenwood family on the recent passing of your mom and our Aunt Lil. The last of the Labulis siblings from Magnolia Street and they each had their memories etched in our childhood hearts as did our Aunt Lil.
She was a strong woman in many ways and you always knew where you stood with her because she would flat out tell you and not mix any words while letting you know. She was one of the many “Mom” aunts that all of us boomer cousins had at our family gatherings. You listened to them all – just like you would your own mom. She enjoyed family gatherings, and the more the merrier. From Holy-days and holidays, to camping trips, family picnics, clambakes in her yard, and golf tournaments. She loved her children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
She was a woman of service to many and firm in her beliefs of Faith Family & Friends. We will keep all of the Greenwood family members in our thoughts and prayers this Easter season. She will be remembered and loved more than she will be missed. Wishing everyone peace and strength of spirit in the days ahead. Rest in Peace – God Bless.
I am going to miss her! Always a ham in the fridge (or two). Hardboiled eggs at the ready. Her stories were legenday and always, always with a smile. My condolences to the family but know that she was loved more than words can say.
