Louis Galtieri's Obituary
Louis Galtieri, 88, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Saturday. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Dominick and Florence (Zucco) Galtieri. He graduated from North High School and served in the armed forces during the Korean War. Louis worked hard during his life with his first job at 8 years old shining shoes, and then 10 more jobs ranging from delivering bread and milk to an electrician for Douglas Aircraft Base. His lifetime occupation was Vice President / General Manager of Cooper Commercial Decorating Company for 46 years.
After retiring, he returned to the workforce working part-time at IMS from the age of 73 until just a few weeks ago. He loved working at IMS and enjoyed his coworkers who he cared about very much. Louis enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, especially SU basketball and keeping busy. He belonged to a travel club years ago with his wife Ann as well. His greatest achievement can be said to be his love for his family and friends and theirs for him. He was especially proud when his work, Cooper Decorating Company, set up for the Kennedy Inaugural Celebration.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Ann (DeFeo) Galtieri, his son, Mark Galtieri who died in 1979, his brothers, Joseph, Fred and Frank (who died very young) Galtieri, sisters, Mary Boiselle and Nancy Vanderpool.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Karen (Chris) Mauro of Camillus; his grandson, Steven Mauro of El Paso, Texas; his granddaughter, Marissa Mauro of Camillus; great-grandchildren, Alisha Mauro of Camillus and Maria Bella Mauro and Zen Mauro of El Paso, Texas; sister, Ann Carocci of Syracuse; brothers, Pasquale Galtieri and James (Joan) Galtieri of Las Vegas; his sister-in-law, Roseanne DeFeo and brother-in-law, Joseph DeFeo, both of Syracuse. Louis had many family including nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR.
