Alan Alcott here with fondest memories of super-sweet Lucien who I first met in the late 70's at a birthday party for another dearly deceased friend, the also awesome Nicky DiLauro.
I can remember his greeting like it was yesterday... deep-voiced Lucien in his tinted aviator glasses and brown LaCoste shirt introducing himself... and my asking, "Maley? As in Maley's Muffler off East Genesee Street?" with Lucien quick and proud to respond, "Yes, that's my uncle."
We went on to connect as good friends and through a family connection help secure Lucien his job with the City of Syracuse. So you can say I might be the guy responsible for introducing that lucky man to his future wife of 44 years, his darling Debbie, who was working at City Hall.
My memories of Lucien are many. Tops among them... his always kind and gentlemanly ways, that stellar smile and deep voice, the pride he took in his lovely family, how he spoke of dear mother's Belgian heritage and father's WWII service.
All this and, yes, Lucien's distinctive walk.
Count me among the many with fond and vivd memories of you, Lucien.
Rest in peace, good fellow.
