Lucy R. (Magazzu) Caruso's Obituary
Lucy R. (Magazzu) Caruso, 78, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Upstate University Hospital. She was born in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Mary and John Magazzu. Lucy received her degree in Business Education from Empire State College. Lucy was a teacher with CCBI for many years, before teaching at Johnson Center Syracuse City School District. She was a member of the Italian American Athletic Club. Lucy was active at the North Area YMCA and several senior groups. She enjoyed the many trips and activities these groups coordinated. Lucy also participated in multiple senior choruses and loved to sing. Lucy loved spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Fortunata Ambrosino.
Lucy is survived by three children, Patricia (James) Nocek of Auburn, NY; Andrea (Bill) Osborne of Cicero, and Frank Caruso, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren, Erica (Jeff) Wagner, Lindsey (Dane) Forsland, Julie Osborne, Christine Osborne, Brianna Caruso, and Teagan Caruso; three great-grandchildren, Ava Wagner, Lyla Wagner, and Madelyn Forsland; her sister, Marie (Dan) Gotowala-Longenberger, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lucy’s family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the ninth floor staff at Upstate University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Lucy’s life at 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
