I knew Margie when I worked at Syracuse Developmental Center around 30 years ago. I remember her as a wonderful, intelligent person with a big heart and a great sense of humor. She was strong and courageous in her advocacy for others, especially vulnerable people, and she always expressed herself with grace and dignity. Margie had a very positive attitude and faced her own formidable problems with a great and quiet resolve. I had great respect for Margie and I learned a lot about strength, dignity, and empathy from her.

Hello Judy, Joe, Lynne, Daniel, Phillina, and family, Even as I type your names, memories come flooding back of the days at SDC when Margie was my Music Therapy assistant. She spoke of you all the time as her family was so important to her. Margie was a great friend and taught me so much. I'll never forget when we performed a song that she wrote during a visit from Governor Mario Cuomo, -"Life Must Go On". He liked it so much that he played it on his weekly radio show. My love and prayers go out to you as you mourn her passing and celebrate her beautiful life. Margie, you are truly a gift and blessing in my life ❤️🎶

I loved visiting Margie when I was in Syracuse. She would get excited to see me her dad Joe, Aunt terry and Uncle Nick. Especially when she saw her dad Joe Valentino. She really loved him. Rest In Peace my sweet niece.love Aunt Joanne Valentino.
My name is Ron Calley and I worked at ARC around 1974. One of the sweetest
memories of those times was concerning Margie. At the end of each day as the
buses arrived (pre wheelchair lift days) I would lift Margie out of her chair and carry her
onto the bus. She always enjoyed this so much as she had a crush on me. My heart
was so touched by this that my compassionate heart felt great love for her also.
We shared a moment of human joy together each day and the other staff members
waiting with there students in the area also experienced this joy as they watched our interaction. I lost touch with Margie all these long years since and can only offer her my
prayers now.
