Maria P. (Lanni) Homola's Obituary
Maria P. (Lanni) Homola, 92, of Cicero, left this world better than she found it on August 2, 2021 with her loving family by her side. A child of the depression, she found ways to bring her families dreams to life. Maria loved her family and encouraged them all to strive to enjoy life. She was passionate about knitting and her sweaters have found homes across the country to friends, relatives, and many babies. She went to work at Bern Furniture in 1966 and continued with the North Syracuse School District until her retirement in 1983. Maria sought and maintained friends while exploring and enjoying the arts, luncheons, and social gatherings. A week before her passing she enjoyed a trip to Auburn with her friends to see a play!
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers and beloved husband John; sons, Ralph and Robert and grandson Jake.
Maria leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of her sons: Jay (Sarah), Joe (Robin), and daughter, Beverly (Vito) Arena, grandchildren: Kristin, Genny, Shannon, Joey, Stacy and Robert and six great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Laura and Harold Mizener for their support, love, and friendship to Maria for many years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 12 – 1 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Maria’s life at 1pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Assumption Cemetery.
