Marianna "Maria" (LaMacchia) LoSurdo's Obituary
Marianna “Maria” (LaMacchia) LoSurdo, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born to the late Francesca and Domenico LaMacchia on February 20, 1917, in Spadafora Sicily. She emigrated to Syracuse on October 5, 1955. Maria worked for many years at Learbury Clothes as a seamstress until her retirement, to become “Nonna”. A gifted and generous woman, “Nonna”, became the greatest role in her life with caring for her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Salvatore LoSurdo, as well as six of her siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Antonio and Dominick LoSurdo, their wives and her daughters-in-law, Claudia and Cynthia LoSurdo; grandchildren, Janelle (Stefano) Selenu, Jessica (Bryan) Pinder, Samuel (Bekah) LoSurdo, Andrea (Jerred) LoSurdo, Keith (Leah) Glenn, and David (Jenn) Glenn; four great-grandchildren, Declan, Dominick, Jonas, and Elizabeth, as well as a fifth due in November; her sister, Providenza Bottaro of Spadafora Sicily, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 9:00 AM at St. Daniel Church in Lyncourt. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
