Mary Ann (Phillips) Merluzzi's Obituary
Mary Ann (Phillips) Merluzzi, 80, of North Syracuse, passed away at home on Friday, September 16, 2016. She was born in Syracuse and graduated from North High School in 1954. Mary Ann was a dedicated child care giver for 50 years, taking care of children and never having a problem with one parent or child. She enjoyed SU basketball, reading, puzzle books, and had a love for animals. Mary Ann loved cooking and baking for family and friends, her home was her life, and her heart was always with her family. She was loved by everyone she met and will be truly missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dominick and Hazel (Rogers) Filippi, and two sisters, Dolores Turcotte and Louise Johnson.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Alfred “Fritzie” Merluzzi; her son, David Merluzzi of N. Syracuse; her daughter, Laurie (Joseph) Nicoletti of Clay; two grandchildren, Dominick and Amanda Nicoletti; her sister, Betty Jane Pringle of Manlius, her half sister and half brother, Cindy Standen and Randy Worden; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary Ann’s life at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
