Mary Rose (Murray) Barton's Obituary
Mary Rose (Murray) Barton, 85, of Liverpool, passed away August 21, 2022 at Crouse Hospital. She was born in Honesdale, PA, daughter of the late Edward L. and Margaret Isabel (Ham) Murray. Mary received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Marywood College in 1957. She started her career working as a secretary for IBM Corp. in Owego, NY and went on to work as a law office administrator for Lyons & Lyons in Binghamton, NY. Mary was a volunteer at Mary's Pantry, Liverpool, NY and Francis House, Syracuse, NY. She was a member of Epiphany Parish – IHM and for many years was a member of Church of the Holy Family/OLA in Endwell, NY where she helped found the Perpetual Adoration Chapel and was a long-time member of the Altar and Rosary Society and eucharistic minister. Mary was an avid Notre Dame football fan and Yankees fan; she also enjoyed watching college basketball.
In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband, James “Jim” Barton in 2007 and her sister, Rita Langendoerfer in 2021.
Mary is survived by her son, Edward (Rebecca) Barton and her daughter, Ellen (David) Benjamin; four grandchildren, Julia, Rhory, Nathan, and Alexandra; siblings, Robert Murray, William Murray, Joseph Murray, Jane LaBar and Edward Murray, along with many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:45 am at Epiphany Parish at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Ave., Liverpool, NY, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Mary’s life at 11:00 am at the church. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY.
