Mary (Tortora) Surace's Obituary
Mary (Tortora) Surace, 92, of North Syracuse, passed away January 20, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Raphael and Maria (Nuzzo) Tortora. Mary worked at Learbury’s for many years and then went on to become a Floral Designer for the Orchid Shop.
In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her daughter, Melanie A. Surace in 2018 and her 7 brothers.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Carmen Surace; 2 daughters, Annette Montgomery and Michele Surace; 3 sons, Salvatore “Sam” (Diane) Surace, Carmen (Pamela) Surace II and Mark Surace; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Pat (Sue) Tortora; sister-in-law, Rita (Richard) Tortora, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a loving wife, precious mother and doting Meema. Her family was her world. Everything about her showed her love of God. Mary was devoted to Ste Anne and all her children carry the Ste Anne card.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, January 24, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
