Merle E. (Davison) Basile's Obituary
Merle E. (Davison) Basile, 90, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2016. She was born in Ogallala, Nebraska to the late Cyrus and Minnie Davison. Merle was the last surviving of nine children. She married Thomas J. Basile in Reno, Nevada in 1947. Merle worked for 5 years at General Electric and retired from Bristol Labs after 22 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Basile (1987) and her son, Richard James (1969).
Merle is survived by her son, Thomas J. Basile, Jr. (Colleen) of Panama City Beach, Florida; her daughter, Beverly Ann Caracci (Dominic) of Tully; seven grandchildren, Kelly DeFilippis, Jessica Basile, Danielle Jeffery, Nicholas, Thomas, Robert, and Michael Caracci; 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews locally and in Ogallala NE, and her best friend of 64 years, Louise Kadlubowski.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Merle’s life at 9:00 AM in St. Daniel’s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
