Mike and I were high school acquaintances mostly as a result of our reliable seat assignments. Our “ST” last names meant that we became pretty familiar classroom faces Mike was always an easy person to crack a joke with, work together with on an assignment, or share a story about the day’s drama & events.
As is commonly the case, we lost contact after graduation, and I was very saddened to learn of his sudden passing. Thinking back on our times together in school, I remember him as being an exceptionally nice, kind, welcoming, and warm-hearted classmate. Frankly, I think it is rare and fortunate to have such a clear memory of what was ultimately a passing acquaintance from 30 years ago. I think that his impression on me speaks strongly about the person he was & I regret that we didn’t stay in touch over the years. Reading his obituary made me happy that he touched so many people, and had so many fun experiences.
With his passing, I sincerely hope for the best for his family & I am wishing for their mutual strength in the difficult days ahead.
Sincerely, Mike’s classmate,
Eric Strickland.
