I will never forget Uncle Nick's jolly spirit. He was generous, kind and patient. He was a modern day Santa Claus! His was always the first Christmas card I received each year. Once, when I was visiting the University of Syracuse, we stopped by for a visit. I remember we were in another room and heard Uncle Nick joyfully talking in the kitchen. When he came in from the kitchen alone- we asked to whom he was speaking. He let out a big laugh and said, "Myself!" But really, I think he meant God. He exuded his faith by the type of gentle, loving and cheerful man he was. That's what I will always remember him by- his absolute cheerfulness in the face of all the ups and downs of life; his perseverance, thoughtfulness, warmth and handsome, kind smile.
I know Uncle Nick is in a peaceful place. I pray in gratitude for Uncle Nick, but it is for you, Sister Rose Marie that I pray for. I know how close you two were, and I know this has been a tiring, difficult time for you. Now, that he has passed, I am are sure that the magnitude of emotions will come upon you. I pray that your strong faith and community will bring peace to your heart and mind. I pray that each day, you will gently allow emotions to come and go and as Uncle Nick's lone voice in the kitchen reminds us- we are never truly alone. I hope you feel his gentle, kind, warm spirit accompany you throughout these days and into a feeling of peaceful acceptance and a happy memory of a life well lived.
With love, Daniela & Tom
