Erik Hauge
I got to know Nick as a neighbor and Central Tech student. After I returned from my Army service, Nick and I renewed acquaintances. I was a freshman at SU when he and his girlfriend Anna Martelotta tried to get me to date Anna's best friend, Kathleen Barr, a fellow Central Tech alum. At first I refused, but on their second attempt, I agreed. It was a fantastic date. I almost fell off Kathleen's front porch when she opened the door! It was love at first sight for me! We began to date, and ultimately got married in June 1965. We've been married ever since. We did attend Nick and Anna's wedding at St. Sofia's Church, but shortly after that, we moved to DC and lost touch with them. But I will be eternally grateful for Nick's offer to set up our first date! May he rest in peace, and may our condolences reach his widow Anna. We'd love to see her when we return to Syracuse soon.
