Very sad to hear of Mr Pat Spadafora passing. During my time at Henninger, Pat offered a strong guidance/leadership to our school. His brother, Ron Spadafora , was an also an inspiration in my teaching career. Funny, but as a teacher, myself, for 39 years, how you impact your students may never be realized. Thank you Mr Spadafora for positively impacting my generation.
I just found out about Mr. Spadafora's death. He was my principal at Henninger in 1976. He was a nice principal. May his soul rest in peace. Coleen (Fritcher) Dembowski.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family of Patrick F. Spadafora. As a Teacher, Principal, and Director of High Schools in Syracuse, he touched the lives of many people. In the early 70's several families from southern Italy came to the USA, settling in Syracuse. Their children were very fortunate to complete their education at Henninger H.S., where he was a principal. Mr. Spadafora loved Henniger High, he was always visible and available willing to help any student, support a teacher or staff member. He was there to help me when I wanted to attend Lemoyne College. After I graduated from Le Moyne, I had the good fortune to be one of many Henninger alumni who often returned to Henninger as teachers. He was a great educator.

Pat was always very kind to me and it was clear that as Director of High Schools he made it his business to know the teachers who worked under his command. My own very Italian father called him the “godfather” of teachers when he witnessed a conversation between Pat and myself where Pat spoke quietly into my ear during a Board Meeting about reducing staff and Pat said I shouldn’t worry because he knew me and my work. I shall always remember him taking the time to be reassuring and supportive.

I met Pat many years ago when Henninger opened. I have enjoyed working with him when we were faculty members, when he was principal, and later as director . Clearly, he was an educator who put kids first and did all he could for them and for the teachers.
I was privileged to call him friend, and I will miss our occasional phone chats to catch up.
He is in the hearts of many in the community and will be missed. My sincere condolences to all of his family.
