Paul V. Delaney, Jr.'s Obituary
Paul V. Delaney, Jr., 81, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born in Syracuse to the late Mary (Manley) and Paul V. Delaney, Sr., he was a graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School in 1958. After high school, Paul served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. He then began his career as an investigator with the Syracuse Police Department earning several commendations throughout his many years of service, including the Herald Medal of Honor for Bravery. After retiring from the police department, he worked for 25 years at National Grid. Paul enjoyed spending his summers with family at his beloved 2nd home in 1000 Island Park on Wellesley Island. He was a lifelong fan of both Syracuse sports and the NY Yankees.
Along with his parents, Paul is predeceased by his sisters, Carol Shurant, and Kathleen Cheslik.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia (Scanlon) Delaney; five children, Coleen (Susan) Delaney, Paul (Ann) Delaney, James Delaney, Kelly Delaney, and Vincent (Chad) Delaney; his grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, and Thomas Commisso, Neil and Nathan Delaney; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Aaliyah Commisso; brothers, John and James Delaney; along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 9:45 – 11:15 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 342 Vine St. in Syracuse, NY 13203 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 in the church.
