Peter C. DiBello's Obituary
Peter C. DiBello, 93, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was born to the late Agostino and Camilla (Oscuro) DiBello and entered the US Navy in 1946 at the age of 17 and served on the US Little Rock. Pete was always a hard worker, starting from picking beans at a young age and then working at various local businesses. He retired from Niagara Mohawk as a display specialist after 38 dedicated years.
Peter dedicated a lot of his time and life to St. John the Baptist Church; he volunteered for the food pantry and festivals, ushered and served during daily mass, and was an active member of the Holy Name Society. He also worked at the NYS Fair at Bersani’s Restaurant, serving beer to patrons and assisted a with visitors at the main gate. Peter was quite the handyman and was often considered a “jack of all trades”. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Allen) DiBello; brothers, Lenny, Luke, and Joe; and a sister, Mary DiBello.
Peter is survived by his children, Michael DiBello, Odetta DiBello and Marijean (Joe) Mehlek; grandchildren, Peter, Jimmy and Christopher; a sister, Julia DiBello; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass in celebration of Peter’s life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 – 6 pm on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road) North Syracuse.
