Phillip M. Rizzo's Obituary
Phillip M. Rizzo, 84, of the “West End” of Syracuse passed away peacefully with his immediate family by his side on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse to the late Phillip M. Rizzo II and Lucille (Montalto). Phil worked for over 3 decades at Allied Chemical and later retired from Church & Dwight Co. Inc. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved to watch the NY Yankees. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends going out to dinner & jazz clubs. What he most looked forward to, was spending time with his grandchildren. Phil was a one-of-a-kind gentleman, both caring & giving, & all who met him were truly blessed to have had this man in their life.
Phil is predeceased by his son, William Moran, Jr. and his former spouse, Diane Rizzo.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Gloria (Tangredi) Rizzo; his daughters, Renee (Shane) Gossiaux, Nicole (Paul Smith) Rizzo; his stepsons, William (Avery) and Vincent (Laurie) Johnson; his stepdaughter, Gina (Dan Redmond) Ryan, Deena Moran; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Matthew (Margaret) and Michael (Sharon) Rizzo; his sisters, Marlene (Ron) Gamble and Gloria (Thomas) Cole, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will take place from 10 am – 12 pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Phil’s life at 12 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phillip’s name may be made to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Foundation.
