Richard J. "Sarge" Varre's Obituary
Richard J. “Sarge” Varre, 74, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late John and Stella (Lapkowski) Varre. Richard was a bus driver in the Westhill School District for over 10 years. He was an avid SU, Yankees and NY Giants fan and loving “Pepa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Annis) Varre in 2012 and his brother, John Varre.
Richard is survived by his three daughters, Michelle Judd Varre (William), Janelle Varre (Jason) and Ericka Argy Varre (Tim); 13 grandchildren, Ashlie (George), Lorina (Marty), Faustina (Michael), Destiny, Estella, Izaiha, Johanna, Chelseah, Vincent, Gunnar, Sophia, Tristyn, and Aliviah; 11 great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Janet Annis; his brother-in-law, Fred Annis; many cousins and his beloved dog, Chipper.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 – 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, followed by a Funeral service in celebration of Richard’s life at 6:30 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Burial will take place in North Syracuse Cemetery at a later date.
