Rita F. (Dwyer) Schoeffter, 94, of Syracuse, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on January 14, 2020. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Thomas and Anna K. (Horan) Dwyer. Rita was a graduate of St. Jose Read Obituary
Rita and Martin were my parents' best friends throughout much of their married life, and Martin and my father were boyhood friends! Our families often took our summer vacations together to the beach and the Schwarz and Schoeffter kids grew up together as well. I have countless wonderful memories of Rita and Martin. They were very caring and loving people. We are so glad that Rita lived a long and fulfilling life. Though all of the Schwarz kids now live far from Syracuse, Rita and Martin were never forgotten. As Heidi said to me, we can hear Rita, Martin, Hilde and Herman in heaven, laughing like they used to now that they are all together. They will never be gone from our hearts.

I never met Mrs Schoeffter, but recently met her son Marty. Marty is my oldest brother, whom Mrs Schoeffter and her husband adopted long before I was born. I am sure Rita had moments of anger or frustration, but she must have been a loving and caring lady and over the years a wonderful mom. I can see that in how she raised Marty to be a nice and caring man. My heart aches for her family and I wish them peace. Paul Grabowski
