Rita F. (Dwyer) Schoeffter's Obituary
Rita F. (Dwyer) Schoeffter, 94, of Syracuse, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on January 14, 2020. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Thomas and Anna K. (Horan) Dwyer. Rita was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She worked as a RN and retired at age 83 from St. Camillus in 2008. Rita was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, Martin E. Schoeffter in 2000, and sisters, Katherine Jones and Madelyn “Mary” Dwyer.
Rita is survived by her children, Martin Schoeffter, Heidi (John) Barbuto and Michael (Selena) Schoeffter; four grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Brooke and Samantha; one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, January 17, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Rita’s life at 10:00 am at Most Holy Rosary Church (Chapel). Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Family and friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
