Robert C. Biswanger's Obituary
Robert C. Biswanger, 72, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with ALS.
Bob was born in Rochester to Edward and Catherine (Neighbor) Biswanger. He graduated as the Salutatorian of the Rush-Henrietta Class of 1961 and from Alfred University in 1965. Bob also did graduate work at SUNY Brockport and SUNY Oswego.
“Mr. Biz,” as he was known to his students at CNS High School, taught Math for 34 years. He was also an adjunct professor at Columbia College for 30 years. Bob’s patience and humor made him an excellent teacher. He also coached Boys’ and Girls’ soccer.
After retiring, Bob enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with his wife and loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed sports, painting landscapes and owning cars. Bob was a kind and loving man and will be truly missed.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret Mary (Hawalka) Biswanger; two sons, Robert (Martha) Biswanger, Jr. and Matthew (Laura) Biswanger; his daughter, Kristin (Matthew) Tierney; six beloved grandchildren, Mattie, Michael, Zachary, Alexis, Brett and Samantha; his brother, John (Alinda) Biswanger, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, February 8, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
