Robert M. "Bob" Licata's Obituary
Robert M. “Bob” Licata, 62, of Lyncourt, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Auburn, NY, son of the late Joseph and Rose (Arnone) Licata. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Daniel’s Church. For the past 10 years, Bob was a technology teacher in the Syracuse City School District. Previously, Bob worked for many years as a design engineer for various companies. For over 40 years he was Director of Lyncourt Community Recreation, where he mentored hundreds of local youth. He enjoyed acting in independent films, playing and coaching sports, and horseback riding. Spending time with his three grandchildren was something he treasured. He lived every day by his motto of God, Health, Family and Friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and beloved dog, Jackson.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Nancy (Kelley) Licata of Lyncourt; his two sons, Robert J. “RJ” (Danielle) Licata of East Syracuse and Michael E. Licata of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Joseph, Gianna, and Gabrielle; his sister, Catherine Helgerson of Cupertino, CA; his brother, John (Susan) Licata of Cicero, his aunt, Angela (Licata) Vitale of Auburn, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 12:10 pm in St. Daniel’s Church, Lyncourt. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
