Robert J. Steele's Obituary
Robert J. Steele, 63, of Tully, NY, formerly of the North Side, passed away peacefully April 18, 2023 at Francis House. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late George A. and Beatrice (Bulla) Steele. Robert received his associate degree from CCBI and worked at Onondaga County Dept. of Social Services as an accountant and supervisor of the support collection unit for 23 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and walks at his home in the country.
Robert is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary Ellen (Dugan) Steele; his son, Daniel Goodbread; two brothers, Bruce (Carol) Steele and Richard (Karen) Steele; nieces and nephew; two very special friends, Jack and Jim, and his dog Murphy.
Special thanks to Dr. Salil Gupta and his staff, Dr. Larry Charlamb, Palliative Care Services at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Francis House, and Hospice, as well as his home care aides.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Roberts life will take place at 9:30 am on Monday, April 24, 2023 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, Syracuse, NY, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
