Robert F. "Bob" Wiegand's Obituary
Robert F. “Bob” Wiegand, 68, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and had a lifelong career as a Sprinkler Fitter before retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, Bob volunteered as “Santa” for many charities, as well as the Great Northern Mall Santa for over 10 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church and an usher for many years at St. Michael’s Church in Central Square. Bob was a high school and college softball umpire for many years as well as the treasurer of the “ASA” American Softball Association. He was also an avid SU and Yankees fan who enjoyed hunting and attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert J. “Speedy” Wiegand in 1984 and his wife, Judy A. (Nolan) Wiegand in 2007.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Wiegand of North Syracuse; his son, Robert C. (Kelly) Wiegand of Cicero; four grandchildren, Robbie, Ally, Katie and Nathan; his mother, Elizabeth H. (Roe) Wiegand of Syracuse; his step-daughter, Tammie Schug of North Syracuse; four brothers, Michael Wiegand of CA., Richard and John Wiegand, both of Solvay, and Daniel Wiegand of East Syracuse; his former wife, Addie Wiegand of Cicero, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Robert’s life at 11:30 am at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse.
