Rose P. (Simon) O'Connor's Obituary
Rose P. (Simon) O’Connor, 87, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 4, 2023. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Michael and Marion (Fazio) Simon. Rose was a 5th Grade Teacher at East Syracuse Minoa School District (ESM) for 20 years. She enjoyed watching SU football games, the Buffalo Bills, and loved shopping. Rose was an avid traveler; she looked forward to her trips to Cape Cod, spending summers in Clayton and winters in Sanibel Island, Fl. Rose enjoyed cooking for family and friends and made the best meatloaf, mac-n-cheese, and cheesecake.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Charles Simon and sister, Annette Doucette.
Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, John F. O’Connor; three children, Michael (Joanne) O’Connor, Maureen (Mark) Heppeler and James O’Connor; two granddaughters, Hannah (Teddy Pristash) Heppeler and Jessica (Dale) Warner; one great granddaughter, Wynne; her special friend, Carol Murnane, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:15 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Rose’s life at 12:30 pm in Blessed Sacrament Church. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
