Salvatore "Sal" Marino, Sr.'s Obituary
Salvatore “Sal” Marino, Sr., 76, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bisacquino, Sicily and came to the United States at age 22 settling in Syracuse. Sal retired from Meloon Foundry as a Supervisor in 2002 after 42 years of service. He loved making wine, tending to his garden, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Sal was greatly admired by his family and friends for his selfless, kind and giving ways. He will be loved and remembered fondly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margherita (Lucia) Marino; his son, Roberto Marino and brothers, Gioacchino “Jack” Marino and Andrea Marino.
Sal is survived by his adoring wife of 50 years, Assunta (Collacchi) Marino; two sons, Salvatore (Kym) Marino, Jr. of Baldwinsville and Roberto (Tracy) Marino of North Syracuse; his cherished grandchildren, Emma and Nicholas Marino ; his brother, Francesco (Rosalia) Marino of Liverpool; two sisters, Maria Scollo of Syracuse and Theresa Scafidi of Liverpool, along with many nieces and nephews.
Sal’s family would like to thank the staff on 1-8 at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care, love and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Sal’s life at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
