Sandra A. Longo, 83, passed away peacefully at Elderwood on Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born in Syracuse to the late Samuel and Rose (Colasurdo) Giacchi. Sandra worked for 28 dedicated years as a school teacher prior to her Read Obituary
Sandi was my third-grade teacher at Salina School, and she continued to be a part of my life long after that year. When I asked her to be my confirmation sponsor, she accepted with the same warmth and kindness she shared with everyone. She was a loving, thoughtful Godmother whose compassion—both in and out of the classroom—was a constant gift.

I was the third teacher at 5th level teacher along with Sandi and Kathy V. (and later Dan) for many years. I used to stop at her house every morning and drive us to and from school - rain, shine, and snow! I often jokingly ( and with great affection for both women) referred to myself as the third non-Italian Giacchi girl!
Sandi was always warm. friendly and caring (although many of her former student may not have felt that way) to all her knew her, but in the classroom she spoke with a firm and unwavering discipline that brought her respect. She was tough on the outside and mushy on the inside.
Even though I moved away and haven't seen her in many years, I still sent cards and notes just to let her know I was thinking of her. I will miss her always.
It was always such a thrill to see Sandy walk through the door of Utica Pizza Company. She was one of the most caring, loving people I've ever known. She was like a family member. She always told me she shouldn't have a dessert, but loved them so much that she just couldn't resist, which always made me giggle. She held my hand as we spoke during her visit and made sure to give me a big kiss and hug as she left, and a soft I love you! You will be greatly missed Sandy. May you Rest In Peace.
