Sandra A. (Giacchi) Longo's Obituary
Sandra A. Longo, 83, passed away peacefully at Elderwood on Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born in Syracuse to the late Samuel and Rose (Colasurdo) Giacchi. Sandra worked for 28 dedicated years as a school teacher prior to her retirement on June 30, 2000, from the Liverpool School District. She actively loved reading her books and especially loved Notre Dame football, UCONN Women’s basketball, and her beloved New York Jets.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John C. Longo.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Rose Anne (Charlie) Van Lew; her son, Michael (Heather) Longo; her beloved granddaughter, DiAnne Van Lew; her brother, Alphonse R. (Judith) Giacchi; her sisters-in-law, Marie (Marnell) Longo and Bernadette (Longo) DelVecchio; her loving dog, Annie; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Sandra’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Elderwood for the compassionate care given to her during her stay.
Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) Syracuse, NY. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Sandra’s life at 9:30 A.M. in Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
