Through relatives and ‘paisans’ Mom and Dad were introduced to Joe and Stella. They became instant friends and instant family. Fantastic couple including their family.
One of the things I remember most was that my dad became somewhat of a go to handy man for them. My Dad would volunteer to fix little things here and there around the house when advise was asked of him.
After Joe, Mom and Dad passed, somehow, I took over, in some aspects, my Dad’s handy man duties for Stella.
She would ask me to do or find someone to do tid bits which in some ways concerned her in the keeping up of her home. I would gladly comply and did what I could. She was so thankful. Didn’t know how to return the favor. She was so persistent, but I would tell her that I was very happy and content to help and that I would do the same for my parents. Lots of times I’d end up carrying food home that she had prepared as a thank you. My daughter Anabel will miss her and also her delicious meatballs.
I have fond memories of her. Very special lady. Always kind. Always having a heart of gold.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to see and visit with her at Greenpoint with my son Adrian.
Will never forget her. One of the nicest lady’s I ever met. God bless her and her whole family.
