Thomas M. Bottar's Obituary
Thomas M. Bottar, 62, of Clay, passed away on Friday, December 24, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was a life resident of the Liverpool area who married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann (Juliano) in April of 1970. Thomas had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. He was a decorated police officer, starting at the North Syracuse Police Department in 1969 and then to the Town of Clay Police Department in 1971, retiring after 35 years, as Director of Operations, Police Captain. For the past 6 years he worked as a Security Coordinator at St. Joseph’s Hospital, leaving behind his “second family”. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (Juliano) Bottar; daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Vasilis) Anninos of Baldwinsville; a son, Matthew Thomas Bottar of Syracuse; a daughter, Marisca Talapessy Noordegraaf of The Netherlands; two God-sons, Nick and Luke Bottar of Liverpool; a sister, Rita Ann (Ross) Wynings of Liverpool and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM on Thursday at Thomas J Pirro Funeral Home and 11 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. The family is most appreciative to the kind and compassionate nurses and staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, 8-1200, the Bone Marrow Transplant Center.
