Thomas A. "Tony" Tassone's Obituary
Thomas A. "Tony" Tassone, 34, of Brewerton, passed away after a yearlong illness on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse and graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square and Elmira College. Tony was an Eagle Scout, President of the SIFE team at Elmira College, and trained for and completed the Philadelphia Half Marathon. He was employed as a Global Trade Manager at Crouse-Hinds. Tony enjoyed tailgating and attending SU football and basketball games, where he was an "honorary" alumnus. He loved to travel for business and pleasure, enjoying lifelong trips to the shore, cruises, and sailing. Tony had a great love and knowledge of history. He cherished his friends, many of whom referred to him as “The Captain”, and rarely missed an opportunity to socialize and enjoy life. Tony always had a smile on his face and lived his life to the fullest, even in the face of adversity. His outlook on life was a great inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. Tony was a special person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. "Sail on, Captain"!
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Fred Tassone, and his father-in-law, William Summa.
Tony is survived by his wife, Theresa (Summa) Tassone; parents, Thomas and Joy (Case) Tassone of Brewerton, NY; brother, Fredric Tassone of Bethlehem, PA; grandparents, Don and Ruth Case of Cicero, NY and Eleanor Tassone of Cicero, NY; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Summa of Endwell, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Aurora Summa of Houston, TX, Joe and Anna Summa of Hilton, NY, Marian Summa and Dan Dowd of Amherst, NY, and Sally Summa of Amherst, NY; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care that Tony received during his illness.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
