I know I've said this before to some of my cousins, but it bears repeating (sorry for the length):
I generally do not feel old, but this death has rocked me to the core.
It seems like yesterday, that we were visiting Aunt Betty's house and thinking how swanky it was, going to Uncle Bob's to swim or play board games in the room overlooking the pool, going to Uncle Al's and being amazed at just how talented Aunt Jan was, helping Uncle Carl with his addition, having pizza and then being told by Aunt Peggy to wash the paper plates and silverware, going to see Aunt Joan at the bowling alley, or going to Uncle Kenny's and having a HUGE horse (I think his name was Red), following us around. Then there were all the parties my parents had at either their house or the camp. Those were all great memories.
But most of all, I remember the vacations we took with Aunt Louise and Uncle Billy. Two families packing up in one car and going on inexpensive vacations, whether to the "North Pole" or to visit Uncle Frank in Florida. Going to a dump, for that was a cheap place to go for entertainment. I am not sure what was more fun, seeing the bears or Uncle Bill and Dad running to the car! Then there was Uncle Billy freaking out that my mother wanted to bring back a huge light (from PA, I think) or the glow in the dark crosses we were given by Uncle Frank. Or the time that we were pulled over for speeding after my dad took the wheel for only 5 minutes and Uncle Billy telling the police officer that they were Special Deputies and the cop saying he didn’t care and giving us a $100 fine. But then again it might be the time my brother took off in Disney to find a toy gun he wanted but which my parents told him they couldn’t afford; my parents were furious that he just took off and upset that he was lost. When we found him, Uncle Billy offered to buy it for him and I was so excited, for that meant I was going to get a gift too (alas that was not to happen)!
We Chryslers are getting smaller in numbers, but any way you put it, us Chryslers are a tough group, but we are loveable as well!!
Rest in Peace Uncle Billy, I will see you in the Big Casino in the Sky!
Love,
Char
