Billy had friends and family on both sides of the country. Here we knew him as Billy Simon, on the West coast he wanted to be known as Billy Simone. Whether he was on the East Coast or West Coast everyone knew him as "Billy", Moving out to California was a big step for him and a move that he never regretted. He loved life out there. He made friends easily, set up his own business, shared his love with those around him, and enjoyed life. As a talented song writer and guitarist, I feel that he told us about himself through his music. Some songs were happy and full of life, others tender and reaching out to those he loved, and there were some that were somber with a hint of regret. To me they were his way of expressing his life experiences. He was a little bit country, a little bit rock an roll, and a little bit blue eyed soul, sort of unique for someone from the northside of Syracuse. I don't think that anyone who met him and spent some time with him can't come up with a story or something special to say about him. It was magical in a sense because you felt that he was a friend from the moment that you met him. When I reflect on the time, not long ago, when we got together, I feel that Billy would like us all to consider this: Don't take your friends and family for granted, embrace them, spend time with them, and appreciate them, The world would be a lonely place without them. I know that my world is a bit lonelier now without Billy. God Bless and peace be with you my good friend.
